Patricia Arah Ann Taylor, PhD

Patricia Arah Ann Taylor, PhD, has been a special education teacher, and a principal, as well as a faculty and program chairperson for the Southern California-based University of LaVerne. In fact, Dr. Taylor is the founder and co-director for The Center for Neurodiversity, Learning and Wellness at the university.

With degrees in Psychology, Learning Theory and Depth Psychology, Dr. Taylor's focus throughout her professional and academic career has been to honor and value the preciousness and uniqueness of each individual.

Dr. Taylor's area of specialization is in assisting learners who learn in atypical ways find their ways of knowing and learning first by acknowledging their unique gifts and then by figuring out how to honor and share those gifts. Her studies and degree in Depth Psychology informs this process and has led to the unveiling of the original meaning of the idea of enough in western lexicon. It has also led to a deep appreciation of what she calls word stories and how words, as Michael Meade states, “[…] are merely condensed stories and like a good story, each word carries more than one meaning.” The work of the word story project is to give attention to the poetry of the origins of particular words and to tell a new–old story that might provide a bit of healing, comfort, wisdom, and new direction.
